Questão de Língua Inglesa

– Questões de 13 a 17 Loneliness as a Public Health Challenge Loneliness is increasingly recognized as a major public health concern affecting people of all ages. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), social connection is essential to health and well-being, while social isolation and loneliness are associated with increased risks of depression, anxiety, cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and premature mortality. Contrary to the common belief that loneliness affects only older adults, the WHO notes that adolescents and young adults may also experience significant levels of loneliness. Factors such as rapid urbanization, changes in family structures, excessive reliance on digital communication, and social inequalities can contribute to weaker social ties. Experts emphasize that addressing loneliness should not depend solely on individual efforts to "make friends." Creating inclusive communities, strengthening public spaces, promoting social participation, and developing supportive policies are considered essential strategies for improving social connection. In this perspective, human relationships are understood not merely as private experiences but also as determinants of health shaped by social environments. Adapted from: WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION.
