Barkitecture: The interior décor trend every dog owner should know about 01 It's not just you that deserves ___ luxurious bedroom makeover. “Barkitecture” — ___ 02 next big thing in home décor for 2022 — is all about keeping your pet in mind when redecorating. 03 Currently, many dog spaces are integrated with other rooms in ___ house, but barkitecture sees 04 owners design areas just for their dogs. According to ___ data from Pinterest, searches for luxury 05 dog rooms have increased by ___ whopping 115%, while the number of people looking for dog 06 beds made from furniture has grown three times. Cathouse design and luxury cat rooms are also 07 on the up, with more owners creating stylish spaces for pets to nap, relax, purr, and play. 08 Pet-proofing the house might start with dog-friendly furniture and a quality vacuum, but 09 how exactly can we incorporate barkitecture in 2022? "This trend might mean turning the area 10 where the dog's bed is usually kept into a more luxury dog bedroom or incorporating stylish cat- 11 friendly shelves and scratch posts discreetly into the permanent fittings of your home", Louise 12 Richardson, Director of Marketing at Pinterest, tells Country Living. One thing to note, however, 13 is that the trend is certainly not about "hiding" away pet toys when visitors pop over. Louise 14 explains: "I personally love this trend as it's all about embracing and elevating the pet toys, 15 beds, and baskets, rather than hiding them away when people come to visit." 16 Man's best friend came to the rescue during the pandemic, providing crucial 17 companionship for many. From relieving stress to providing nonjudgmental emotional support, 18 dogs are the unsung heroes of the past two years. While we certainly don't need any more 19 reminding just how wonderful they really are, Louise says this trend comes from people wanting 20 to give back to their pets. "For many of us, pets have really helped us get through these last 21 couple of years, providing love and companionship when we've needed it most. People have 22 always come to Pinterest to plan their next home decoration or DIY project, but in recent months 23 we've seen a new trend emerging of people looking to upgrade their pet's corner of the house 24 too.
